December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks is arrested for refusing to move to the back of bus
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 – October 24, 2005) was an African American seamstress. After Parks' notorious refusal to comply with orders given to her by bus driver James Blake that she give up her seat to a white passenger on December 1, 1955, she became a civil rights activist. Ultimately, she was given the moniker: "Mother of the Modern-Day Civil Rights Movement."
