Tucson traffic fatality

On June 2, 2007 at 4:10 a.m., officers from the Tucson Operations Division Midtown responded to a serious injury traffic accident involving three vehicles on E. Golf Links Rd. just west of S. Swan Rd. Tucson Police Department Traffic Unit Detectives also responded to conduct an on-scene investigation.

Roadway evidence and witness statements indicate a 2006 Nissan Titan was traveling eastbound on E. Golf Links Rd. when it crossed over the raised median into the westbound lanes of traffic where it collided head-on with a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina and then a 1972 Volkswagen, also westbound.

The drivers, who were the sole occupants of all three vehicles, were transported to a local hospital. The driver of the 1972 Volkswagen, 62-year-old Frank Allen of Tucson, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:17 a.m. The drivers of the other vehicles were listed in critical condition.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. No citations have been issued at this time pending final outcome of the investigation.
